The Sockkids Meet Lincoln was written by Susan Petrone and Michael John Sullivan
This book is a great for kids. It involves creativity, imagination, and history. I read it to my children and it sparked some very interesting questions. Sometimes for smaller children history books are not written at their level. This book was about Abe Lincoln and a sock. I don’t want to give the story away, but here is a preview of the book!
There was a long pause. “Where are we?” Stretch asked.
“Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. “
Stretch gave a worried look. “What year is it?” he asked.
“Oh no! I have traveled really far!”
That was just a small clip from the book. It was truly interesting, held historical facts and had a great idea of socks, a washing machine and time travel. At one point I was so intrigued by the story that it was tempting to skip to find out about the time travel possibility. Illustrations are very detailed and coincide well with the story. This is a plus because sometimes they are not as informative and children that cannot read piece the story together with the pictures and words.
Thoroughly enjoyable! Look for it November 9th to be available FREE on the Kindle. I will also be holding a giveaway on that week to help promote.
