Friday is a more relaxed day around our house. My oldest son is off to school for the day and I just have the smaller kids. On Friday I try to do our routine different.
I brought out our bean bag game to help with sharing.
I babysit a little girl so this givess my kids a chance to play with another child that they are not related to, and learn to share. I usually set the timer for 10 minutes, teach them the rules of the game and let them play. I want them to be creative with their games and not look to me all of the time for entertainment. Back in the early days our parents sent us outside for the day.
Since they are 4 and it’s cold, We try this inside. I do set aside time to play with them intermittently, but it also helps them to work out their own playing time.
With my toddler I printed out a learning sheet and had it laminated. He uses a special marker and goes to town for the 10 minutes. I have found stations to be handy with short attention spans. He has a short attention span. Also, I cannot use the same station repeatedly. Kob definitely makes me jump through hoops.
Somedays I use books, and other days I search online for what other creative moms are doing because nothing makes him happy.
