Desserts For Thanksgiving

November 25, 2013 By Michelle Knight Leave a Comment

I am not big on making sugary snacks all of the time because I don’t want my kids to have them.  Occasionally cookies, popsicles, and other treats are made available in our house.  At least once a week I try to make chocolate chip or peanut butter cookies for us to have for treats.

Around the holidays I get out my special treats that I save for once a year.  This one made our top ten list last year.

Puppy Chow

Ingredients:

8 cups Crispix cereal
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

In a saucepan, melt the chocolate chips and peanut butter.  ( It might be best to put the pan on top of another pan of the same size that contains water, creating a double boiler).  This will prevent the chocolate chips from burning before they melt.  Pour the mixture over the crispix cereal and tir unil coated.   Put the cereal in a paper bag and add the powdered sugar.  Shake.  Add more powdered sugar if needed.

 What is your favorite snack?
