Week Two- A Better Stocked Bathroom
Just like in the kitchen, I greatly dislike to be in the bathroom and figure out someone used the last of the toothpaste and did not put it on the grocery list. If you want to continue frugality in time management then lists are very necessary. Why? Because if you need something and it is written down it can be used as reference over and over.
Back to the topic…the bathroom. This week we are focusing on the bathroom. Ever have to use paper towel instead of toilet paper?
Oh yes, someone forgot to put it on the list. This time it was not MY turn in our bathroom. Thank Heavens!
I do follow the flylady routines and methods for housekeeping. Our home is not perfect by any means, but routines and young children go hand in hand. A routine was definitely needed for my lists that are used to re-stock.
My bathroom chart has been added to my Tues. instead of my Saturday because Tuesday is my planning day, and we are in sports again so Saturday’s will be packed with activities. But, I am also working toward no housework on Saturday only gardening in the summer.
For bathroom needs a chart was necessary, and not only does it help with restocking, but I have a firm handle on how much is being used.
That is another part of being frugal, one must keep track of overconsumption. All of our medicine’s are sorted into various baskets on our medicine shelf. About 3 years ago, everything that was considered overconsumption or clutter was used up or dumped. The bathroom now has a very organized bathroom closet!
After much debate I decided to not purge again, but just use what we have (essence of frugalness) and keep essentials stocked.
Here is the items on my re-stocking chart:
1. Toilet paper (obviously more than one roll)
3. One lotion
4. One shampoo
5. One conditioner
6. One soap
7. Shower gel
8. One back up hand soap
10. One of each baby needs
On Tuesday’s I grab my stocking lists and hit each room. If I am low then I put it on the list to replenish the product.
I do not want a really cluttered bath or closet with a million different soaps, shampoos’ etc, so I keep just one on hand unless it is a refillable bottle.
My goal for this year is to save our alloted amount that my husband and I have set to put down on our rental. We are trying to pay it off so that all of the rent will be profit. What this means to me is that I have to be as frugal as possible and if we can’t make it, find it at the dollar store, or have a coupon we won’t buy it.
Let me know the frugal insane ways you save to reach a goal!
