This week we are working on letter “C” in our preschool. Since I do not want to have my children constantly working in books I am adding in a fun unit study on Caterpillars.
The book we are reading is “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle. We be colored the letter “C”, then wrote it in rice. Yes, the rice made a mess, but that is why we have a vacuum.
This story went along with K’s science lesson on the life cycle of a moth. Since I have so many different ages I try to accommodate and make my teaching time efficient. The easiest way for me to do this is to look at what the older one is learning then adapt it for my preschooler. That way they are both learning science but at their age appropriate level.
K is working on his butterfly/moth study in science. This week we created a cocoon, and then we have been reading several books from the library about butterfly’s and caterpillars. As he is on the kindle (that is when I do preschool time with KO) I allow him to watch youtube videos’ regarding the lessons we are working on. Sometimes if I don’t pay close attention Netflix will “accidentally” pop up!
C is trying hard to catch up on his spanish because he was making a few bad choices and it is a programmed study. Hence….(hmmm) he is behind! He attends K12 so his classes are online and assigned by a teacher.
