Resourceful Homeschool History Ancient Wonders

November 21, 2024 By Michelle Knight Leave a Comment

Today we studied the seven wonders of the ancient world for homeschool history. As homeschoolers, history is a very important in our studies. So much of history from the ancient world has been destroyed. Diving into the history of the ancient seven wonders was fascinating. Of course we used what we had to make the projects. It is easy to be creative and make something from what you have. Math skills are learned from cardboard projects and much more. Anyway, here is how our timeline projects were created and what was expected of them.

Resourceful Homeschool History Ancient Wonders

Homeschool History Project

My homeschoolers’ were given the assignment to choose one of the seven wonders of the world and re-create it. They are able to use whatever cardboard boxes I have saved, glue, tape, markers , and other materials.

The projects turned out great, and a lot of creativity was invested. My sons’ each chose a different wonder of the world to create. I found the replicas to be very interesting, and I love to see what they end up presenting.

Creative Writing Paper

The paper was over whichever ancient structure they decided to create. My older son has to have five paragraphs that are age appropriate in writing skills, and so on are the requirements for each. My youngest only had to do two paragraphs for his homeschool history project.

Presentation Skills Practice Opportunity

Each one of them has grown in their presentation skills. Every week they get more and more confident int their presentation skills. Calmness was the focus for presenting this week. Even when nervous appear calm.

My goal with this is to help them grow with their speaking skills whether in public or with friends. I have seen a lot of growth since I add this to our history timeline day.

Participation and Comprehension Questions

Finally, we worked on reading and comprehension questions for the selected material. I have to say they read well, and were able to answer detailed questions. Other than that, they researched a bit further with homeschool history and found out that almost all of the ancient wonders have been destroyed.
