June 6, 2025 By Michelle Knight Leave a Comment

Try these simple coin tricks to keep your kids from getting bored this summer. All of them are easy, and they will have loads of fun. Who doesn’t have a coin? When we were learning these coin tricks our coin of choice was a quarter. Quarters are bigger and easier to keep track of when hiding or learning a trick.

Most of the idea’s that we try come out of the book “Dangerous Book for Boys'” . It has so many different activities to try and our boys’ love them. This book is geared toward opening up the box of imagination and creation. Building, dirt, and dangerous activities such as tree climbing are part of my boys’ normal day. Here are fun coin tricks for a rainy day:

5 Frugal Coin Tricks for Family Night

Simple Vanishing Coin Trick

This coin trick is so easy anyone can do it. You will need a coin, flat surface, and a napkin. First show the coin to your audience. Then, tap on the table to show it is stable. Lay the coin on the table and tell the audience you will be making it vanish.

Move your hand over the coin as if you are going to cover it. With a secret move, slide the coin into your lap without anyone seeing this motion. Keep pretending the coin is in your hand. Rub your hand slowly over the coin and speak slowly giving good eye contact. This will reassure the audience of the authenticity of the trick. finally, lift your hand slowly to show the coin is gone.

Slip a Coin Through the Table Trick

Another trick to fascinate audiences is the table trick. What you will need is a coin, a flat table surface and a clear glass. As with the other trick show the audience the coin. Explain that you will be slipping it through the table. First, place the coin in your dominate hand. Second, pretend to push it through the table. As you are pretending to push the coin into the table, let it secretly slip into your lap. Don’t let anyone see your hands move in the direction. Of course before you try this trick with an audience practice it a few times.

Tap the table a few times. Use the drinking cup and place it over the spot you had the coin. Keep talking and hold the audience attention. Finally, pull your hand out from under the table and reveal the coin.

5 Simple Coin Tricks for Family Night

Disappearing Coin Trick

Our next coin trick is even easier than the first two. All you need is a coin, and your hands. show the coin in your hand, close them, and show the coin is gone. You can even say “Presto” and the coin is gone depending on your audience.

First, hold the coin between your thumb and dominant fingers. Second, move your non-dominant hand underneath. Pretend to place the coin in this hand. Then, don’t actually let it go, “palm” into your dominant hand. Close the non-dominant hand in a fist, and keep your dominant hand relaxed at your side.

Then suddenly show the coin! Open your non-dominant hand to show the coin is gone.

The Jumping Coin

Show a coin in one hand, then close them. When you open your hands it looks like the coin jumped into the other hand. Place the coin in your dominant hand. Pretend to drop the coin into your other hand, but secretly it stays in your dominant hand. Keeping your fingers curled all other time will help the coin to stay in your hand as you appear to move it.

Blow on the fist with the coin, and tell the audience the coin will jump from hand to hand. Open the empty hand, then open the other hand to show that the coin has jumped.

This makes a great family night activity because it doesn’t cost anything for the entertainment. To set it up for a family night would be easy. Tell the kids’ they will be putting on a show. Each person pick a coin trick to practice. Read through the directions and watch a few videos’. Next, make some fun posters to place around the room when the show starts. Have someone be an announcer for the show.

Make it as detailed or laid back as you want, but be sure to bring out the fun and creativity. For more ways to have fun, frugal family nights sign up for my newsletter! Also, follow me on Instagram @momsarefrugal. My facebook page is “Momsarefrugal” .
