Frugal Moms Christmas Decorating Business

November 15, 2022 By Michelle Knight Leave a Comment

This Christmas idea for frugal moms is one that I always wish I would have tried instead of cleaning. Christmas is my favorite time of year, and I love to decorate. The whole ambiance of Christmas radiates family, joy, giving and happiness. The idea of going into homes to decorate for them for Christmas is the best of both worlds. They say to do what you love and the money will follow.

If you love decorating, this job is for you. In addition to Christmas, this job would also coincide with other holidays such as Easter, Mother’s day luncheons, or Father’s Day BBQ’s. Keeping the door open for more business, or shut for just a side income at Christmas is the decision of each business owner.

Frugal Moms Business Plan

Start up cost information is important for most frugal moms right now. Food, gas and everything else is more expensive. Identifying how mush or how little to invest into a side income is important. Next, identify a target market to attract for business. Saving money on advertising is important.

Researching all of the legalities of this business prior to startup is a time saver for the future. Finally, creating a profit margin prior to a startup date and figuring in expenses identifies how many customers are needed to make the income most frugal moms desire.

Up front research saves leg work and disappointment down the road. Making sure to attract the right clientele is ideal.

Prep All Business Legalities Before Starting

Banks accounts, permits and licenses need to be obtained before decorating the first home. Up front payment of insurance is necessary to protect from a liability in case of a decorating accident. Research of accounting firms to hire when needed is pertinent to save time later when the business is booming. Frugal moms do all of the research and busy work prior to starting the business because this saves time and money.

Identifying a target market is saving on gas. Instead of driving outside of town limits for a client the boundary has to be set up before hand of a mileage fee, or additional costs of driving our of a certain range.

Define Your Brand

Knowing what your brand will be is important to promotion techniques. your brand is what will attract and refer future customers. Setting up the protocol now is practice for a Christmas decorating business. Once you start promoting your brand, then it is understandable that you begin to be your brand.

Several famous people had to begin with their brand and live it before they could promote it. For instance, Dave Ramsey had to live his debt free and wealth building advice before he could give it.

For instance, decorate your own home. Take pictures and build a portfolio. Decorate other family members homes to get more pictures, and then start off with the decorating other people homes for money. Build slowly to get a firm handle on how the business needs to be ran.

Frugal Christmas Home Decorating Business for Moms

Set up a Website and Phone System

The most affordable way to market is through a website. Frugal moms will utilize this form of advertisement due to the low cost nature. Handing out business cards that refer and set up appointments through the website. Another facet is the phone system. Handling incoming calls, voicemails, and requests can be a lot on a small business owner.

Creating a phone system that allows for incoming calls and handles multiple lines is an asset. Frugal moms have a lot of plates to keep spinning. Alleviating a plate from falling by preparation is great way to save in the future and not overspend on hiring a receptionist.
