3 Ways To Plan For The Weekend

August 3, 2015 By Michelle Knight Leave a Comment

Weekends are for relaxing, baseball games and family fun. Sometimes as moms we have too much going on and life is no fun. Having some white space for the weekend has really helped me to keep things in perspective.  I really don’t want to spend all of my time grocery shopping, cleaning, running to games and other stuff that we sometime put off until the weekend. Then there is the birthday party, BBQ’s in the summer and so on.

Setting up a daily cleaning schedule through the week will help.   Having specific days to accomplish some freezer cooking, menu planning, or meal prep. Since I am a homeschool mom of four boys that are very active my days are never the same.  Organized time is of the essence. I have a few things that I do each morning to keep the house up. Each one of the boys have 1 or 2 things in their room to do each day to keep the clean and organized.  A little bit each day helps us to keep weekends free. I definitely want my weekends to be free and open.

Help for keeping the weekends free:

  1. Sit down with the kids and make out a list of fun activities they want to do.
  2. Be organized with your weekly time.  Don’t leave everything for the weekend.
  3. Know that the family will still have a social life, it is ok to turn down events.  Sometimes that makes the immediate family closer. Pick one for each day and leave the rest open.

Moms are natural born organizers. We are made that way.  I love to organize projects, rooms, time, other people’s lives (Ha, Ha). You get the point. Finally when my weekends were so busy that I felt like it was a never ending workload that is when I began to organize my weekends.

Being overbooked on the weekends doesn’t really give a break for the busy week. Enjoy some quiet time….clean through the week.
