Frugal Home Laundry Tips

Laundry is in every home, and on every mom’s mind. Everyone has laundry everyday. Now in 2019, we have more laundry than mother’s of the past. We are blessed as a nation in many ways with the ability to go buy clothes new or used anytime. Doing laundry daily will keep that mountain of clothes to a minimum.

The problem with doing laundry every day is the water usage. The more water that is used will cause the water bill to rise. This frugal minded person likes to save money, but not at the cost of being dirty.

Lowering laundry costs is a delicate balance of washing/drying clothes daily, and saving money while staying current with daily laundry. Frugal living laundry hacks an be used to evaluate a current laundry system change.

Frugal Laundry Hacks to Save Money

Have specific days to do the laundry.

Hang clothes too dry.

Sort clothes by color. Do certain colors on specified days.

Give children their own day to do laundry.

Set the washer on quick clean unless the laundry is really dirty.

Don’t use hot water unless necessary.

Fold clothes as soon as they come out of the dryer.

Iron clothes…don’t use the dryer for wrinkles.

Lessen what goes into the laundry baskets.

Don’t own 50 towels and wash them. Own enough towels for each person.

Wash towels, rags and whites once a week.

Following all of these laundry hacks will definitely lower the water bill. Frugal living is adapting to the lifestyle one change at a time. Frugal living laundry tips are a foundation of where to start to lower costs. Change is not easy and takes discipline.

Making a few frugal living laundry changes at a time will create a more accepting environment. Family members may not appreciate an abrupt change in any routines. Discussions can also be held to answer questions or help children to see they can help with efficiency by not wasting water.

Role modeling how to save money in small ways teaches children how to save money in small ways.
